about Sellers Publishing

Sellers Publishing Calendars, Books & Notecards

Sellers Publishing was founded by Ronnie Sellers in 1993. He published two calendars that year, The Cat Codependents and The Dog Codependents, and personally handled all of the creating, desktop publishing, print production and sales and marketing himself. In all, he collected orders for more than 100,000 calendars that first year. The success of those calendars inspired Sellers to invest the profits into publishing four calendars in 1994, and then eight in 1995, and the calendar line doubled in size each year for the first five years the company was in business.

Sellers’ main goal during those first years was to become a book publisher, and his previous experience as co-owner of Renaissance Greeting Cards demonstrated the importance of marketing directly to both the independent and the major book chains, rather than through distributors, which is the fate of most small publishers. Sellers’ was issued a vendor number by Waldenbooks in his first year of business, and was a Barnes & Noble vendor a few years thereafter.

The company emphasized three specific points in their early efforts — unique, original, high quality products; superior customer service; and competitive pricing, and those three factors are still the cornerstones of their business today. The company’s recent growth has been hailed by Publishers Weekly magazine, who recognized the company as one of the ten fastest growing independent publishers for four consecutive years!

A spirit of innovation has helped the company’s growth, as they were first publisher to foil stamp the covers of calendars. The company has entered into licensing relationships with some top name licensors and artists such as CBS, AMC, The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, Fender Music, Inc., World of Warcraft®, Fancy Nancy™, Ciruelo Cabral's dragon artwork, and many others. The company’s 2016 calendar line will include 175 calendar titles in seven different formats – wall calendar, wall calendar/planner, mini calendar, weekly engagement calendar, boxed daily calendar, two-year-plus pocket planner, and desk pad planner.

Sellers' commitment to expanding their line of RSVP® greeting cards has made them the fastest growing alternative card line in America. The company now offers complete-line options at 32 feet, with 28 feet of everyday cards and 4 feet of seasonal counter cards through all seasons. Their RSVP line produces exceptional sell-through rates and their fill ratio is 100%

Sellers' line of trade and gift books have also received outstanding recognition, and they publish approximately 25 to 30 frontlist book titles each year. Their line has won a Benjamin Franklin Book of the Year Award, an iParent Media Book of the Year Award, the Independent Publisher’s Book of the Year Award (IPPY), Book of the Year Awards from Foreword Magazine, and more! Their book line has proven to be very successful at retail as well, with titles like their series of 500 recipe cookbooks, their series of wedding books, and their series of books aimed at people turning 30, 40, 50, or 60 selling as fast as they can be printed. Expectations for future titles are just as high, as the company continues to expand its product line and holds to its core values of producing unique, original, high quality products, providing superior customer service, and keeping their pricing competitive.
